The difference between an Office Space and a Work Space

One helps you stay busy, while the other lets you actually get some work done.  After escaping the cube farms I've been looking at how other people (mostly writers) create effective work spaces. Here's what I've found so far:

1. The writer's Grotto, in particular, Po Bronson's Writing Closet:

2. Malcom Gladwell's work space while writing Blink.
3. Michael Crichton's preferences:

Q: Describe the perfect writing environment.
A: Small room. Shades down. No daylight. No disturbances. Macintosh with a big screen. Plenty of coffee. Quiet.

4. Any other suggestions?

My personal favorite so far has been Alliance Bakery in Chicago.

...Yes, this is a bad time for France and friends to lose their appetite for hard work - just when India, China and Poland are rediscovering theirs.
