Taking pumpkin carving to a whole new level

Here's my pumpkin (you can click on it for a bigger version). Think Marquette will send me another cease and desist letter :)

And these put mine to shame.

Oh yeah, the answer to Oct 27th's blog post is..... D. None of the above. You'll just have to figure out for yourself how a whole weekend's worth of pics were lost.

A friend of mine starting taking a photography class

And on a recent trip to Seattle he was able to try out a few of the things he learned. When he got home and developed the pictures he was surprised by the results because:

a.) They were much better than he expected.
b.) They were not as good as he hoped.
c.) There were no results, he forgot to take the lens cap off.

And in case you were wondering "a friend of mine" <> to me. Answers to come in time. Until then, you can guess an answer in the comments section or check out what some of his photos might have looked like here.

Like I was saying

On October 8th I mentioned I wanted to talk about the Apple iPod vs. the Dell DJ...and now that the Cubbies are outta the playoffs, I suddenly have an extra 9-10 hours per week to think about this sort of crap. So here it goes:

The iPod is sweet, everyone knows this. It's design is far superior to anything else out there, and in combination with iTunes, Apple is suddenly a big player in the music world. But look out cause here comes Dell, who has a history of entering markets and taking them over (see desktops, servers, etc). Dell's going to be introducing the Dell DJ in combination with a Dell version of an iTunes store. And the question is, who wins?

A superior product with excellent design but a high price tag or
A subpar product with good enough design but $100 cheaper

First off, by winning I mean who, in say a few years from now, will sell a higher number of their respective digital music players? Who's gonna be the Microsoft of digital music? The second article seems to think that Apple won't repeat its dismal stats in the computer industry. While I don't think the iPod will ever drop to 2-3% market share, I also don't think it will remain the dominant player in the market...more thoughts later.

This about sums it up

Melancholy and Infinite Sadness.

It was suggested that the perfect remedy to this MIS is to go watch Q's lastest, Kill Bill. If only he would have titled it Kill Gill instead...

Forget about the curse of

Forget about the curse of the billy goat

What about the curse of the French Poodle?

Scratch that 2-0 Cubs, end

Scratch that

2-0 Cubs, end of the 1st. Woohoo!

I've got something to say

I've got something to say

But the Cubs' game is on...gotta run! You can get ready by reading the "Lick me I'm a Macintosh" and "Dell's version of the iPod" articles in the Miscellany Links section. I'd add hyperlinks in this post, but seriously - bases loaded, two outs.

Don't come here anymore Go

Don't come here anymore

Go to the Sachsreport instead. The site design is a little lacking but the links are top notch. I'd tell you which links I like over which ones I don't (my normal blog value add) but I'm interested in almost everything that's listed. So save me some time from having to relist the entire site and just go there instead. Thanks.
